Good nutrition and regular exercise. We all know these are important to lifelong health. Knowing what they look like in practice, and knowing how to get started, can be another matter, though. And even families with healthy habits need regular reminders and a bit of variety to keep them going. Help families in your community adopt and stick to healthy habits. Host PTA Healthy Lifestyles events this November.

Now in its second year, PTA Healthy Lifestyles is helping communities make health and wellness a priority. In 2007, PTAs across the country held health fairs; encouraged students to walk or ride their bikes to school; introduced families to new, nutritious foods; and launched ongoing fitness programs. There were recipe contests, cooking demonstrations, parent education nights, walkathons, yoga classes, and more.

Whether your events are big or small, we hope you’ll join us in improving the health of our communities.

 

National PTA is once again offering a limited number of PTA Healthy Lifestyles Awards of up to $1,000 to local units who are making an outstanding commitment to promoting health and wellness in their communities.
