Oh beautiful for spacious skies
For amber
waves of grain
I’m a
softy at heart when it comes to the Fourth of July. I love this country, the
people who live in it, the good things and, yes, the bad, but mostly
I love the fact that as a nation we care. When called upon to ‘do our
duty’ we respond.
Unfortunately, it takes something tragic to make us come
forward sometimes.
I hope
that tragedy does not make you be a responsible care giving
volunteer in your community and especially within your school. You can make things
different for children by being a part of their school life. Volunteer – be it with a
class trip, assisting at a school function, aiding a reading group,
showing children ways they can help the environment, attending
school board meetings to hear about issues that effect children, but
most importantly, just being where your child can see that you
care.
As
volunteers we have a choice in where and how we utilize our
time. I hope that
choice for you will be an example that you can share with your child
so that they, too, will become volunteers.
Hugs
Jean
How wonderful it is
that nobody need
wait a single moment
before starting to improve the world.
